New Podcast Supporting the Community Launched

Launched on August 14, The Community Sofa brings together health professionals, charities and service providers to share practical advice and help listeners understand where to turn to before they reach crisis point.

The podcast is the brainchild of Right at Home Salisbury & Andover Director Courtney Hillman and Registered Manager Debs Sheldon.

They hope The Community Sofa will bridge the gap between community services and the people who need them most.

Courtney, who hosts the show, said: "Every day we meet families who simply don't know what support is available to them. We wanted to create something that gives local organisations a platform to share their knowledge while making it easier for people to access help when they need it most. The Community Sofa is about bringing our community together through conversation." 

Her co-host, Debs, added: "Care is about so much more than the support we provide in someone's home. It's about helping people feel connected, informed and confident that they're never facing life's challenges alone. Through The Community Sofa, we're opening up conversations with the incredible people and organisations that make our community so special." 

The first guest to take a seat on the sofa was Helen Dowse, a dedicated Carers Champion for Salisbury, providing support and advocating for unpaid carers in the community.

Right at Home Salisbury & Andover was established in 2024 by Owners Michelle and Martin Hillman, along with their daughter, Courtney.

The team has already made its mark on the community by volunteering at dementia cafes, lunch clubs and day centres and has also introduced a therapy dog to help make a positive difference to lonely and elderly individuals.
