At the Homecare Association, we strive to make a positive impact in social care by effectively communicating and building relationships with parliamentarians to encourage them and the government to take action.

When we meet with parliamentarians, we inform them about the work we do in the policy team to create resources, conduct research, analyse data, and generate insights on the key issues facing our members.

In our experience, contacting and arranging meetings with Members of Parliament (MPs) is a powerful way to influence how they act, vote, and raise issues in Parliament. This includes encouraging them to use their role in Parliament to ask the Government specific questions and to table debates in the House of Commons about key issues facing providers.

As part of our ongoing advocacy efforts, we are working with and supporting our members in writing to their MPs to request a meeting and to raise important concerns with government ministers.

Following the publication of the Homecare Deficit Report 2025, we have created a template letter for you to send to your elected official, informing them of the findings from the report and to push for fair funding, sustainable services and a workforce that feels valued.

If you receive a response from your elected official, or would like to discuss the findings of our report, please email [email protected].

Finding out who your local MP is

If you don’t know who your MP is or how to contact them, you can find this out by entering your postcode on the Find Your MP website.

Arranging a meeting when your MP responds

When your MP responds, we highly recommend arranging a meeting for a Friday, as this is usually when MPs are in their constituency office. The Policy Team here at the Homecare Association can support you in preparing for your meeting, focusing on the key issues at hand and how your local concerns align with the broader challenges facing homecare providers across the UK.

Support for members from the Policy Team

We are developing a series of briefings on specific topics, which summarise our position. These will be available soon. In the meantime, here is our 2024 Manifesto.

Please email the Policy Team at [email protected] to let us know how you get on or if you need our help in preparing.
