A new free friendship and support café is bringing people together in the heart of Chester, offering a welcoming place for people living with dementia and their loved ones to connect, chat and share experiences.

Radfield Home Care Chester & Ellesmere Port has teamed up with St Peter’s at the Cross to launch a new Dementia Friendship and Support Café, providing a friendly, relaxed space for people affected by dementia to come together.

Held at St Peter’s at the Cross in Chester city centre, the café has already welcomed guests to its first two sessions, both of which have been filled with lovely conversations, companionship and opportunities to make new connections.

The café is open to anyone living with dementia, as well as family members, friends and carers. Loved ones are also welcome to attend on their own, whether they are looking for a friendly face, someone to talk to or the opportunity to share experiences with others who understand.

Guests can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, take part in activities and have a chat in an informal, supportive environment. The sessions also provide an opportunity to access advice and support from the team at Radfield Home Care and the volunteers at St Peter’s.

Nicola, Trainer at Radfield Home Care Chester & Ellesmere Port, said:

“We want everyone who comes along to feel welcome, comfortable and included. Living with dementia, or supporting someone who does, can sometimes feel isolating, so having a place where people can meet others, enjoy a chat and feel understood can make a real difference. It has been lovely to see people coming together over our first two sessions, and we hope the café will continue to grow into a valued part of the local community.”

The café reflects Radfield Home Care’s commitment to helping people remain connected to the people, places and communities that matter to them. By working alongside St Peter’s at the Cross, the team hopes to create a space where friendships can develop, experiences can be shared and nobody feels they have to face dementia alone.

The Dementia Friendship and Support Café takes place on the first and third Wednesday of each month, from 2pm to 4pm, at St Peter’s at the Cross, Chester. Attendance is free, and there is no need to feel that you have to know anyone before coming along.

Anyone living with dementia, or a family member or friend looking for support, is warmly encouraged to attend.
