Friendship, music and community at The Royal Hotel, Waterloo, Liverpool.
Radfield Home Care enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of friendship, music and community spirit at The Royal Hotel in Waterloo, Liverpool, celebrating the launch of its seasonal community friendship initiative, ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’.
The event brought clients and guests together to enjoy good company, share stories and create meaningful connections in a warm and welcoming environment.
The afternoon was filled with laughter, smiles and fantastic entertainment, thanks to the talented Alistare Grant, whose wonderful saxophone performance helped create a memorable occasion.
Guests were also treated to excellent hospitality from The Royal Hotel team, with unlimited tea and coffee and a delicious afternoon buffet tea. Radfield Home Care thanked the hotel's hospitality team for making everyone feel welcome.
A friendship that makes a difference
The launch was particularly meaningful for two of Radfield Home Care’s clients, who met for the first time at the event and began what promises to be a new friendship.
One lady, who is visually impaired and has a hearing impairment, thoroughly enjoyed meeting her new friend.
The two ladies spent time chatting about their past and daily lifestyles, sharing memories and talking about their families.
Their meeting was a wonderful example of how community events can help people build relationships, feel more connected and enjoy new experiences together.
For the two ladies, the afternoon was about much more than attending an event. It was an opportunity to meet someone new, discover shared experiences and begin a friendship that can continue to grow through future gatherings.
Radfield Home Care looks forward to welcoming both ladies to upcoming events.
Being there for the moments that matter
At the heart of Radfield Home Care is its ethos, ‘Be There’, which focuses on being present and building relationships with the people it supports.
The ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ initiative reflects this commitment by creating opportunities for people to come together, enjoy companionship and develop friendships within their local community.
Loneliness and social isolation can affect people at any stage of life, particularly as circumstances change. Creating welcoming spaces where people can meet, talk and share experiences is one way to help strengthen community connections and support emotional wellbeing.
The event at The Royal Hotel demonstrated the value of these simple but important moments: a shared cup of tea, a favourite song, a conversation about family or the beginning of a new friendship.
Community Engagement Coordinator for Radfield Home Care, Lesley Malone, said:
“It was wonderful to see everyone come together to enjoy such a happy afternoon. The music, laughter and conversations created a lovely atmosphere, but one of the most special moments was seeing our two lady clients meet and begin their friendship.
“Our ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ initiative is about creating opportunities for companionship, connection and belonging. At Radfield Home Care, our ‘Be There’ ethos means recognising that care is about more than meeting practical needs — it is also about helping people enjoy life, feel valued and experience the friendships and moments that matter.”
Radfield Home Care thanked everyone who attended, performed, volunteered and helped organise the event, as well as The Royal Hotel team for its hospitality.
The team looks forward to hosting more community friendship events in the coming months.
