Lunch in Paris: redefining what it means to care
At Walfinch Chiswick, Hammersmith & Kensington, we believe that receiving care should never mean the end of life's great adventures.
Recently, one of our dedicated carers, Allison, accompanied a client on a special trip across the English Channel.
Our client, a lady living with cancer, had a simple but deeply emotional wish: to have lunch one more time at her favourite restaurant in Paris. For someone with complex care needs, such a trip required careful planning and preparation.
The journey involved coordinating travel via the Eurostar and managing medication schedules to ensure the client's health needs were supported throughout. Allison stepped up to the challenge, providing attentive care and companionship while helping make the journey possible.
Through careful preparation and a good understanding of the client's needs, Allison helped make the trip a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Arriving at her favourite Parisian restaurant was a moment of great joy. The client was able to enjoy the familiar flavours and atmosphere she had loved for years, with Allison providing support throughout while allowing her to make the most of the experience.
The trip demonstrated how homecare can support people to continue enjoying the experiences that matter to them, even when living with complex health needs. With the right planning and support, opportunities to travel, visit favourite places and make new memories can remain possible.
Walfinch is incredibly proud of Allison and grateful to the client for allowing the team to be part of such a special experience.
