Golf Day Raises £8,345 to Tackle Loneliness
Home Instead’s annual Golf Day raised £8,345 for Home Instead Charities UK, bringing together franchise owners, colleagues, suppliers and business partners from across the UK for a day of fundraising and friendly competition.
The funds will support Home Instead Charities UK’s work tackling loneliness and social isolation by funding community projects that help older adults stay connected, active and engaged.
Held on Friday 5 June at The Oxfordshire Golf, Hotel & Spa, the event welcomed participants from across the Home Instead network for a day of fundraising, networking and team-building.
Ruth Brown, Managing Director of Home Instead UK & Ireland, said, “One of the things I value most about Home Instead is the strength of the community we’ve built across our network.
“Bringing together franchise owners, colleagues, suppliers and partners for our annual Golf Day is always a highlight of the year. Beyond the fundraising, it’s an opportunity to connect with people who care deeply about supporting older adults and strengthening the communities we serve.
“I’d like to thank everyone who took part and helped make this year’s event such a success. Their support will help continue making a meaningful difference to people’s lives across the UK.”
The annual fundraiser supports the work of Home Instead Charities UK, which provides grants to community initiatives that help older people stay connected, active and engaged in their local communities.
Throughout the year, Home Instead franchise offices raise funds for Home Instead Charities UK through a variety of successful and creative fundraising activities, from local community events and sponsored challenges to larger initiatives such as the annual Golf Day.
Penny Hamer, Executive Director of Home Instead Charities UK, added, “Raising £8,345 is a fantastic achievement and will make a meaningful difference to the communities and projects we support.
“We know that connection and companionship can have a profound impact on wellbeing, and these funds will help us continue supporting initiatives that bring people together and reduce social isolation.
“Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success.”
Research consistently highlights the impact loneliness and social isolation can have on both physical and mental wellbeing in later life, making community-based support increasingly important as the UK’s population ages.
This year’s event adopted a Texas Scramble format, encouraging teamwork throughout the competition and helping create a fun and inclusive atmosphere for participants.
Home Instead would like to thank everyone who took part in the event, as well as the sponsors and volunteers whose support helped make the day a success.
