This month we are delighted to be celebrating the very first anniversary of our Radfield Adult Day Care Centre in Chester. Based at The Living Well Centre in Backford, Chester, our day care service has become a vibrant hub where older adults come together to share laughter, companionship and meaningful experiences. It has been a joy to watch our guests thrive, supported every step of the way by our dedicated Care Professionals.

A day filled with joy and celebration
To mark this special one-year anniversary, we hosted a memorable day for our day centre members . The celebrations began with a warm welcome of hot drinks and breakfast pastries, setting the tone for a day of togetherness. Guests then enjoyed a lively quiz and a variety of games that sparked plenty of smiles and friendly competition.

A delicious lunch followed, giving everyone the chance to relax and enjoy good food in great company. The afternoon brought the highlight of the day, a wonderful performance by singer John Goudie. His music had everyone singing along, clapping and even dancing, filling the room with joy, laughter and energy. The celebrations perfectly captured what our day care centre is all about: fun, companionship and making every day meaningful.

Managed with care and dedication
Our day care centre is managed by our wonderful Day Care Coordinator, Val Hales, whose commitment and warmth have been instrumental in its success. Val shares:

“We are so proud of how far the day care has come. When we first opened, we welcomed just three clients, and now we regularly have twelve people joining each week. The growth of the centre has come about largely through word of mouth, which speaks volumes about the trust and relationships we’ve built. We have developed a lovely rapport with our clients and their families, and it’s heart-warming to hear how much it means to them. Families often tell us it’s wonderful to see a different side of their loved ones, many really come alive here, whether it’s through competitive games, sharing laughter, or getting up to dance. That joy is not only special for us to witness but also for families to experience. We have so much planned for the future and can’t wait for many more years filled with fun, laughter and companionship.”

Val’s words perfectly reflect the heart of what our Chester and Ellesmere Port day care stands for: connection, joy and genuine community spirit.

Activities, companionship and supporting wellbeing
Radfield’s day centre in Chester offers a varied programme of activities to support wellbeing, stimulate the mind and encourage social interaction. From arts and crafts to gentle exercise and group games, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at their own pace.

These activities do more than entertain. They build confidence, reduce loneliness and create lasting friendships, showing how valuable social interaction can be for quality of life.

Attending our day care regularly helps maintain routines, encourage mobility and keep the mind active. Just as importantly, it provides the chance to connect with others and enjoy new experiences.
