Clients and Care Professionals Set Sail for a Joyful Canal Boat Trip in Ellesmere

Thanks to the generous support of the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Severn, this special outing provided clients with their first opportunity to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of a canal boat journey.
The day was filled with smiles, laughter and new friendships as the group cruised along the picturesque canal to Frankton. Throughout the trip, Radfield Home Care’s dedicated Care Professionals offered attentive support, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and engaged. A picnic lunch on board added to the enjoyment, allowing clients to relax, savour fresh air and share conversation.
Karen Corcoran, Operations Manager at Radfield Home Care Shrewsbury & Oswestry, described the event as “a truly heartwarming experience that left a lasting impression on everyone involved.”
The successful trip concluded with a return to Ellesmere, where clients departed with happy memories and anticipation for future outings.

The Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Severn played a crucial role in making the day possible. David Morris, past president and part of the organising team, remarked, “It was an idyllic day, as none of the new sailors had ever been on a canal boat before.” Following this positive experience, another trip has been arranged, with hopes to fund further outings in 2026. Morris noted the challenges of fundraising, reflecting the current economic pressures facing many families, and highlighted the importance of community generosity.
This event exemplifies the power of community partnerships in enriching the lives of those receiving home care in Shrewsbury and surrounding areas.
