Home Instead Bristol North celebrates CQC Outstanding rating

Inspectors praised the highly personalised care provided by the team and the positive impact it has on clients’ independence, wellbeing and quality of life.

One client described care professionals as “wonderful and attentive”, going on to say: “They supported me to get out for a few hours, and I do some painting with their support. It helps me with my mental health.”

The positive impact was echoed by a client’s relative, one of which told inspectors: “The support they give her has led to positive outcomes. She can live in her home.”

The report also highlighted how personalised support can help people remain independent as their circumstances change. After a couple experienced a significant decline in their health following a hospital admission, Home Instead provided 24-hour live-in care. As their health and independence improved thanks to Home Instead’s compassionate care professionals, their support was gradually reduced and they could continue living the life they love at home together.

Andrew Wood, owner of Home Instead Bristol North, said: “To receive an Outstanding rating is something our whole team can be incredibly proud of.

“What means the most is seeing the difference our care professionals make to people every day. Whether it’s helping someone rediscover something they love, regain some independence or continue living life in the home they know, it comes down to understanding each person and what matters to them.

“This recognition belongs to our care professionals and the wider team, whose kindness, commitment and creativity sets the benchmark for quality care.”

The CQC also recognised the development and support provided to Care Professionals. Training was delivered face-to-face and online, helping staff feel confident applying their skills, while staff spoke positively about teamwork and the support they received from managers.

The awards were held on September 16 at Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire, with more than 200 people in attendance. The team also celebrated an individual success, with Registered Manager Amy Purps named Rising Star of the Year, recognising her contribution to the team and her commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

The annual awards ceremony honours the achievements of franchise teams and individuals from across the Right at Home UK network, a national homecare provider made up of more than 80 local offices. The Business of the Year award recognises Right at Home Central Wiltshire’s approach to building a workplace where Carers feel valued, supported and able to develop, alongside a strong focus on helping Clients live well and giving families confidence that their loved ones are receiving the right support.

The judges recognised the team’s commitment to going beyond day-to-day care, with a focus on supporting its people, strengthening connections within the local community and continually looking for ways to make a positive difference to the lives of Clients, families and those around them.

This includes creating opportunities for Carers to connect and develop, supporting their wellbeing and working with local organisations and community groups to share knowledge, provide support and help people stay independent and connected.

For Amy, being named Rising Star of the Year reflects her own journey within the organisation. Having joined Right at Home as a Carer, Amy progressed through a number of roles before becoming Registered Manager. She continues to combine her experience of frontline care with her leadership role, supporting both Clients and the wider team.

Amy Purps, Registered Manager at Right at Home Central Wiltshire, said:

“I’m really proud and grateful to receive the Rising Star award. I’ve had the opportunity to grow within the team, and I’m thankful for the support and encouragement I’ve received along the way. It’s lovely to see the whole team recognised too – this is something we can all celebrate together.”

Commenting on the wins, Jack Miller, Owner of Right at Home Central Wiltshire, said:

“Winning Business of the Year is a fantastic achievement for the whole team. It reflects how much we have developed together over the past year, but importantly, it recognises the hard work and commitment of everyone at Right at Home Central Wiltshire. I’m incredibly proud of what the team has achieved and would like to thank our team who work tirelessly each day, our Clients who trust us to look after them, and the hundreds of Clients and families we have had the privilege of supporting over the years.”

“We’re also incredibly proud of Amy and her Rising Star award. She has developed through the organisation and brings her experience, passion and understanding of care into everything she does. It’s wonderful to see both the team and an individual member of our team recognised in this way.”

The awards cap off a year of achievement for Right at Home Central Wiltshire, which has also been recognised as a Top 20 Home Care Provider in the South West by homecare.co.uk and received a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care services in England, following an inspection earlier this year.

Right at Home East Lancashire & Ribble Valley has received an Outstanding rating from the CQC

Inspectors praised the provider’s commitment to building trusted relationships through compassionate, person-centred support.

In its glowing report about the homecare franchise, the regulator said it found that “people were always treated with patience, kindness and compassion”, adding that staff “respected their individualities and celebrated their achievements”. Inspectors also noted how the care team goes beyond delivering basic tasks to understand their Clients’ personalities, interests and aspirations, enabling people to maintain their independence and remain connected to their local communities.

Relatives echoed this approach, with one describing their loved one as being treated as "a person, not a client."

Commenting on the achievement, Elsa Hastings, Operations Manager at Right at Home East Lancs & Ribble Valley, said the rating signifies “more than just a certificate on the wall”.

"It represents the client who feels more confident, the family who gains peace of mind, and the individual being empowered to keep doing what they love,” she explained.

"Our Carers build genuine, meaningful relationships. Every visit, conversation, and extra effort contributes to this experience. This rating belongs to our entire team, and we are deeply grateful to our clients, their families, and our local partners for their trust and support.”

In addition to Client care, the CQC commended the organisation's internal culture, noting that staff are exceptionally well-trained, feel valued, and are supported by visible, approachable leadership.

Right at Home East Lancs & Ribble Valley plans to build on this recognition by expanding its community partnerships and continuing to invest in workforce development.

"Outstanding isn't the finish line for us - it's the baseline. We will continue innovating, supporting our staff, and making a positive difference across East Lancashire and the Ribble Valley,” Elsa said.
