CQC names Home Instead Northampton ‘Outstanding’ for a second time
A local home care company is celebrating once again after being awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), a status achieved by only 3% of home care companies.
It’s the second time Home Instead Northampton has received a CQC Outstanding rating, reaffirming its status as a supportive company that helps local older people live safely, independently, and with dignity in their own homes.
Inspectors praised the company for its relationship‑led approach to care, made possible by the nurturing and supportive environment it provides for its care professionals.
Providing care ranging from companionship to specialist support for conditions such as dementia, Home Instead Northampton has been recognised by the care regulator for its strong focus on building meaningful, trusting relationships between care professionals and clients.
The CQC also highlighted the holistic nature of Home Instead’s care, noting that support goes far beyond meeting needs at home. Inspectors noted how the team helps clients stay connected to their communities by accompanying them to activity groups and local events, keeping people engaged, stimulated, and involved in the life they love.
Sandra Morison, registered care manager of Home Instead Northampton, says: “Supporting older people in the community is a responsibility we don’t take lightly. Over the years, we’ve seen the difference it makes to receive care from someone you have bonded with, and that’s why we place such a focus on relationship-led care.
“As we get older, we all deserve to maintain independence and those community connections we enjoy, and that’s why it plays an important role in our care plans. We’re delighted to be recognised for all of this and many more things in our CQC Outstanding rating.
Another strength highlighted in the CQC report is the collaborative nature of Home Instead’s care. The company works closely with health and social care professionals to ensure support is fully joined‑up, keeping everyone informed and providing consistency for clients. Clients are also given genuine involvement in shaping their support, with 100% saying they take part in planning and reviewing their own care.
Home Instead also earnt praise for involving clients’ families in care packages too, keeping loved ones informed and reassured every step of the way. Family members speak highly of Home Instead, with the CQC report highlighting one relative who said that they can spend more quality time with their older loved one, explaining: “I can be more of a relative than a carer.”
At the forefront of Home Instead’s care is its dedicated care professionals, who are offered ongoing training to expand their skills and further their careers in care. The CQC was impressed by their participation in dementia workshops, which offer a practical approach to understanding what it’s like living with the condition. Care professionals can deliver care with a clearer view of the client’s perspective.
One care professional summarised the company’s approach to care in the CQC report, saying: “It’s about bringing positivity to their lives to lift their mood whilst attending to their needs.”
Sandra continues: "I want to express my heartfelt thanks to our care professionals and our office team, whose dedication and hard work have helped us achieve this accolade. Their compassion, commitment, and ability to build genuine relationships truly define the standard of care at Home Instead. I couldn’t be prouder to see our team approach their work with such enthusiasm and sincerity. This achievement would not have been possible without the trust and support of our clients and their families.”
