Workforce Survey 2024
We have published the findings from our Workforce Survey. This highlights ongoing challenges in the sector, including workforce shortages, funding issues, and the need for improved commissioning practices. It also notes some positive trends, such as improved staff retention compared to previous years.
Key findings include:
- 48% said they cannot meet demand, with 84% citing recruitment difficulties as the primary reason.
- 44% of providers experienced a decrease in careworker turnover compared to last year, while 41% reported no change.
- 65% of respondents reported offering zero-hour contracts, with 54% offering guaranteed hours contracts. Many offered both.
- Low fee rates from councils/NHS, lack of guaranteed hours/income, and unattractive employment terms were identified as major obstacles to retention and recruitment.
We would like to thank our members who provided insights via our survey. We made recommendations for commissioners, local authorities, and the new government to address the issues identified in the report. Click here to read our press release.
