UKHCA argues for business rates exemption for homecare
UKHCA has responded to the Treasury's call for evidence for their review of business rates England.
We pointed out that exemption is rightly given to care homes where high levels of care are provided round the clock to older and disabled people in a regulated residential setting. Homecare is also a regulated service and, like care homes, provides complex care to older and disabled people in their own homes.
We suggested to the Treasury that the finance legislation is amended so that organisations, including homecare providers, which help to meet government NHS and social care objectives, should be exempt from business rates.
