From today (21 September), thousands of households across England will receive letters inviting adults to register their interest in joining the Public Panel on Care, part of the Big Conversation on Care run by the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, chaired by Baroness Casey of Blackstock.
Letters are being sent to randomly selected addresses, and anyone aged 18 or over living there may register by Sunday 11 October. Around 125 members will then be chosen by lottery, to broadly reflect the population of England, and will help shape the Commission's recommendations on the future of adult social care.
People do not need to have any previous experience or knowledge of adult social care to take part.
The Public Panel will meet in person over several weekends between November 2026 and April 2027 in Birmingham and London as well as convening for shorter online sessions.
