Steve Barclay was reappointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care yesterday, 25 October 2022. He held the role previously from 5 July 2022 and 6 September 2022, and during that time set up an immigration taskforce to help address recruitment and retention issues in health and social care.  We will be drawing his attention to the priorities of the homecare sector.

The new Health and Social Care Secretary replaces Thérèse Coffey, who moves to become Environment Secretary. Further announcements about junior ministerial posts are awaited, following the new Prime Minister’s reshuffle.

As a result of the Cabinet changes, the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has said the economic plan expected on 31 October would be postponed and "upgraded" to a full autumn statement on 17 November.
