The Government has announced changes to the NHS App as part of the 10-Year Plan to address health inequalities and give all patients better access to information and choice in their healthcare.
This includes:
-
My Companion using AI to provide patients with trusted health information about their conditions and procedures, helping to prepare for appointments and ask informed questions.
-
My Choices supporting users to compare healthcare providers based on waiting times, patient satisfaction scores, outcomes and location - enabling people to choose where they receive treatment rather than being assigned automatically.
Speaking about the changes, the Health and Social Care Secretary, the Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP, said: “The ambition of our 10 Year Health Plan is nothing less than to provide NHS patients with the same ease and convenience that’s afforded to private patients. The good news is that technology gives us the opportunity to democratise healthcare in a way never before possible. It can empower patients with choice and control and make managing our healthcare as convenient as doing our shopping or banking online.”
