The deadline to register to vote in-person for the local elections is 11:59pm on Tuesday 16 April 2024.

The deadline to request a postal vote is: 17:00 on Wednesday 17 April.

And the deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 17:00 on Wednesday 24 April.

Elections will take place in 107 local authorities across England. Including voting for the Mayor of London and new Police and Crime Commissioners. To discover if there is a local election in your area, click here.

New rules means voters need to bring photo ID to their polling station in order to vote. Information on the accepted forms of ID can be found here.

If you do not have an accepted form of ID you may apply for a free photo ID document, also known as a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply is 17:00 17:00 on Wednesday 24 April. Click here to apply now.

And alongside the Electoral Commission, the My Vote My Voice campaign has created resources to support those with learning disabilities and/or autism to vote.
