Government’s position on migrant workers post-Brexit
On the 13th July 2020, Home Secretary Priti Patel revealed the Government's latest post-Brexit plans for migrant workers.
It includes a new health and care visa.
Colin Angel, UKHCA's Policy Director, said:
“For the homecare sector, it is incredibly disappointing that the new health and care visa will not include the vast majority of those who work in social care.
“At the moment, there are well over 122,000 vacancies in the social care sector as a whole. We want Government to fund social care properly, while also recognising the contribution that overseas nationals make, by adjusting the future points-based system to enable social care employers to recruit from outside the UK when the domestic labour market does not meet total demand.”
