Estimated migration impacts published
Alongside the FAQs on net migration, the Government have published some estimates about how the policy changes announced will affect the number of people coming into the country.

They are anticipating that the announced policy measure to prevent careworkers and senior careworkers from accessing visas for dependents would lead to 120,000 dependents not coming to the country. They also expect a 22% reduction of applications from England due to the organisations in question not being CQC registered. This would lead to a further 20,000 people not being granted visas. They assume that the fact that careworkers will not (in future) be able to access visas for dependents won't reduce the number of careworkers coming into the country, they state a few reasons for this including the fact that some of those who would have applied to non-CQC regulated organisations will apply to CQC registered organisations instead; some family members will apply directly for visas; some people will come without their families. They also assume that there is a high level of global labour supply.
