Channel 4 News looked at the role of careworkers, in a debate on the emergency in the NHS conducted by Presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
In this special programme, nurses, doctors, paramedics, care providers, patients and experts debated leading politicians - the Health and Social Care Minister Helen Whatley and Labour's Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting - over the current state of the NHS.
In a discussion on appreciating the vital work that careworkers do, Sharon Lowie, Homecare Association Board member and CEO of Be Caring, in Newcastle, explained to viewers that 50% of careworkers leave in their first year. She said the homecare sector needs long term funding to enable providers to properly value their workforce.
