The number of people waiting for a homecare package in Northern Ireland has jumped by more than 60% since October 2021, according to a report by BBC News.
Department of Health figures show that more than 2,600 people were waiting for a care package in August this year, 943 more than in October 2021.
A further 1,591 people were waiting part of their assessed domiciliary care package in August this year.
The figures include people who are currently in hospital or a care home, and those at home who have been assessed as needing a care package.
A £23m support package was announced in November 2021 by Health Minister Robin Swann to allow homecare providers to offer better pay, terms and conditions and increase workforce capacity.
