The government is consulting with employers on extending right to work checks to ‘gig economy’ and zero hours workers, a measure brought by the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill and intended to clamp down on illegal working.
The consultation seeks views on:
- how this change should be operationalised and enforced
- how processes can be simplified to make it easier for employers to fulfil their responsibilities
The consultation will give businesses the opportunity to help shape the guidance and the statutory codes of practice. It closes on 1
