Community Day Held for Health and Social Care Students
The day kicked off with warm welcomes and introductions, setting the tone for an engaging and enlightening experience. Our team delivered short talks sharing what it’s really like to work in care, from building relationships with clients to the wide range of roles and career pathways available. We encouraged students to ask questions, share their thoughts, and think about the kind of difference they could one day make in someone’s life.
It was fantastic to see their curiosity and compassion shine through during these open discussions. Many asked thoughtful questions about the emotional and practical sides of care, and we were proud to share honest and inspiring answers.
To add a creative and meaningful touch to the day, we ran an arts and crafts session, where students designed ‘Canvases of Happiness’. These colourful, joy-filled pieces of artwork were gifted to our clients in Part 2 of the project. Not only did this provide a fun and relaxing activity for the students, but it also reminded us all of the small things that can bring joy to someone’s day.
This heartfelt gesture will go a long way in brightening the lives of those we support – showing them that the next generation of care professionals is already full of empathy, creativity, and kindness.
What a day to remember!
Our Part 2 Community Day was an absolute triumph – a perfect blend of joy, connection, creativity, and care.
From the moment guests arrived, there was a buzz in the air. The room was filled with warm greetings, laughter, and meaningful conversations. Our clients lit up chatting with the students, who showed such interest, kindness, and genuine curiosity about working in the care sector.
The atmosphere was enhanced by the soothing sounds of live music, adding a joyful soundtrack to the day. Our guests enjoyed a spread of delicious treats, from savoury cheese boards, fresh fruit and sandwiches to a stunning selection of pastries, scones, and homemade cakes.
This collaboration is not just about one-off events – it’s about building bridges. Through shared experiences, we’re helping students understand the vital, rewarding roles that exist within the world of care. We hope the event inspired some of these bright young people to consider a career path in health and social care, where they can truly make a difference.
Feedback from the events
“Thank you so much for inviting Lyn, Vic and myself to your get together today, so very enjoyable. Everyone was so friendly, and it was so nice to meet you all. The food was absolutely delicious. I do hope that you all were pleased with the results of your hard work. You certainly should be. Only so sorry that neither of my daughters were able to come, due to the travel distance. (Switzerland and The Lake District!!)”
“It was so lovely to bring one of my clients. She had a great time and told everyone how wonderful the "spread of food laid out" was.
“Thank you to everyone who organised it. It was a great success and lovely to see so many people”
Tess Gazeley, Deputy Head of School for Access to HE at Milton Keynes College, said: “"It was a fantastic opportunity to work with Home Instead. Our learners thoroughly enjoyed both events. They had the chance to learn about how the company supports its clients, interact with the company's staff, and meet some of the clients themselves. Additionally, our learners received valuable advice on job opportunities to help them with their future career”
