Care Team Get Oliver McGowan Training Off to a Strong Start

As a provider that supports a growing number of individuals with complex and specialist needs, we knew this training would be crucial—not only for compliance, but for deepening empathy and improving outcomes.
So far, around a half of our team have completed the training, and we’ve been blown away by the feedback. The course content was powerful and thought-provoking, but what truly stood out were the incredible co-presenters—especially the young people with lived experience who bravely shared their personal journeys. Their honesty, humour, and insight brought a whole new level of meaning to the sessions.
Staff described the training as “eye-opening” and “essential,” with many saying it has already impacted how they think about communication, behaviours, and assumptions in their daily roles.
We’re looking forward to the remaining sessions in August, and we’ll continue to embed this learning into our everyday practice—from office leadership to frontline care.
And as always, our company therapy dog Bella couldn’t resist getting involved—making her rounds during training and lifting everyone's spirits. She might not have passed the assessment, but she’s definitely earned her title as Unofficial Training Mascot. 🐾
This training marks just one part of our ongoing journey to ensure every person we support is seen, heard, and valued—not just cared for.
