Acas has announced new training courses to help businesses navigate upcoming employment law changes:

Working effectively with trade unions

This course, developed jointly with CIPD, focuses on working effectively with trade unions. The Employment Rights Act 2025 introduces reforms that expand trade union rights, meaning businesses will engage more frequently with unions. This full-day digital course equips HR professionals and managers with skills to build constructive relationships with trade unions and implement effective partnership approaches.

Paternity and parental leave

A further course addresses paternity and parental leave, focusing on Employment Rights Act changes taking effect in April 2026. The reforms are expected to make paternity and unpaid parental leave day one rights and remove restrictions on taking paternity leave after shared parental leave.

This two-hour session is intended to help team leaders, line managers, HR professionals and small business owners understand current law and prepare for upcoming changes, by ensuring their policies are updated and managers know how to handle requests.
