The Homecare Deficit 2018

The Homecare Deficit 2018 provides a snapshot of the rates that councils in Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care Trusts paid for older people’s homecare during a sample week in April 2018, using data obtained from Freedom of Information requests.

This report updates our previous findings from similar exercises undertaken over the last four years, most recently in 2016. It again exposes the continued deficit in funding for homecare services for older people across the United Kingdom. Moreover, the document demonstrates the level of risk that many councils place on a system intended to support older and disabled people, who should rightly expect their care needs to be properly supported by a workforce that is properly rewarded.

This document was produced while the organisation was known as UKHCA.
