A message from The Care Workers Charity:

The Care Workers Charity is thrilled to announce that we’re one of the thousands of organisations taking part in this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign, to be held on 30 November.

In 2020 The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) have raised £3.2million and paid out almost £2million in Covid-19 Emergency Fund grants and over £200k in Crisis Grants to over 3,000 care workers in need. Our aim is for a UK where no careworker faces financial hardship alone and where their cause is championed both in and outside of the sector. To advance the financial, professional and mental wellbeing of social care workers by making grants, signposting to resources and providing access to services.

Brought to the UK in 2014 by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), this year #GivingTuesday offers the opportunity to give back to good causes, either by donating to charity, reaffirming commitment to a cause, volunteering time or supporting others by simply helping a friend, neighbour or family member.

From providing established front line services like health support to the rise of local giving networks delivering food to their next door neighbours, over the last year the global pandemic has seen charities step up like never before, helping keep communities going across the country.

In the face of this rising demand, a number of charities have faced financial and social challenges as traditional fundraising opportunities have been shut off to them. Giving Tuesday is a chance to secure their future in the postpandemic world.

In 2020 #GivingTuesday was the top trending item on UK Twitter and generated more than 360 million impressions. In the UK, more than £20 million was raised in online donations, more than ever before.

As the only charity in the UK created solely for Care Workers we are so grateful to our supporters to help us do what we
do. We're thrilled to be an official partner of giving Tuesday which we hope will help raise awareness and encourage
fundraising efforts which are vital to our ability to provide as many care workers as possible with much needed financial
and emotional support

- Karolina Gerlich, CEO of The Care Workers' Charity

Andy Frain, #GivingTuesday UK Lead at the CAF, adds:

We’re all looking forward to moving on from the pandemic as soon as it is safe to do so, but it’s so important we
remember the work done to help keep communities going over the last year and a half.

Giving Tuesday is a great chance to Give Back to the charities and causes that we care about, and thank them for overcoming some immense challenges over the course of this pandemic.

People can Give in so many ways and we’re always amazed at the diversity of people’s generosity – whether it is donating money, volunteering time or just amplifying your support for a charity, any act of Giving can make all the difference to a cause you care about.
