Everycare Hants hosted another successful Tech Fest event on Tuesday 2nd September at St Barnabas Church, Winchester. The free, hands-on session welcomed local residents over the age of 65, offering friendly and practical guidance to help build confidence with modern technology.

From downloading bank statements and resizing photos for bus passes to connecting hearing aids to a phone, setting up laptops, shopping online, creating photo libraries, using cloud storage, and even sending voicemails on WhatsApp - attendees had the chance to get support with a wide range of everyday challenges.

The event drew an excellent turnout, with participants praising the relaxed, approachable atmosphere. Many commented on how much they enjoyed the session and expressed enthusiasm for attending future Tech Fest activities.

Everycare Hants would like to extend heartfelt thanks to those who helped make the day possible:

  • Heather Wilkins and Reverend Ed Dines for providing the welcoming venue.
  • Councillor Sudhakar Achwal and his wife Viv for their continued support.
  • Sacha Welsh from Citizens Advice Bureau for her invaluable advice.
  • Graham Topping for his encouragement.
  • And of course, the dedicated volunteers and staff, whose time and energy ensured the event ran smoothly.

The importance of Tech Fest was also highlighted by the Mayor, who attended and praised the initiative:

“It was a real pleasure to attend and to see the valuable support being offered to the older generation in using smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Events like this make such a difference in helping people stay connected with their families and reduce the sense of isolation that can so easily arise in today’s busy world.”

Looking ahead, look out for future community activities from Everycare Hants, including more Tech Fest sessions and other events to support local people.
