Statutory guidance updated in Wales
Care Inspectorate Wales have announced the following changes to statutory guidance:
"Following the public consultation last summer, Welsh Government has updated the statutory guidance for service providers and responsible individuals of care home services, domiciliary support services, secure accommodation services and residential family centre services.
The statutory guidance is issued under section 29 of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016. It includes the amendments made to the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) (Wales) Regulations 2017, since 2019.
The updated statutory guidance removes outdated terminology and provides clarity and further detail on certain areas. These include:
- volunteers;
- promoting a positive culture;
- service agreements, contracts and fees;
- how standards of care and support can be demonstrated in services for children;
- safeguarding individuals; and
- evidencing Responsible Individual visits to the service.
Two versions of the updated statutory guidance have been published. One is a “clean” version, and the other shows the changes made since the publication of the previous version (version 2 – April 2019), for ease of reference.
CIW will reflect the changes in its inspection framework. It is important you familiarise yourself with the changes in the statutory guidance to ensure they are reflected in how you provide your services.
The updated guidance can be found on both the Welsh Government’s and CIW’s website, available here."
