Social gatherings of more than six people banned from 14 September

The government has restored some coronavirus restrictions in England to try and stem transmission.

There will be a ban on social gatherings of more than six people either indoors or outdoors. Exemptions will apply to households and support bubbles bigger than six people, schools, workplaces, COVID-secure weddings, funerals and organised team sport.

The new restrictions will be enforced by a £100 fine, doubling to a maximum of £3200.
