Social care workers in Wales to receive £500
The Welsh Government has introduced a special payment scheme for social care workers to recognise their hard work and commitment of staff during the most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Careworkers employed in the qualifying period of 5 March to 31 May 2020 will receive £500 from the scheme which is aimed at staff in registered care homes, homecare services and Personal Assistants (PAs).
HMRC have confirmed that these payments will be liable for tax, national insurance contributions and student loan repayments, where appropriate. They will also be included in benefits calculations
