Safeguarding to be overhauled in Northern Ireland, following residential care failings
Health Minister Robin Swann is to bring forward a new Adult Safeguarding Bill for Northern Ireland, following the first report from an independent review commissioned to examine the health and social care system's response to care failings at Dunmurry Manor Care Home.
Plans include standing down the Northern Ireland Adult Safeguarding Partnership and moving to establishing an Independent Adult Safeguarding Board at arms-length from the Department of Health.
The Northern Ireland Executive intends to consult on a range of legislative options before Christmas to assist the development of an Adult Safeguarding Bill.
