Reduction in social care support in Scotland raises human rights concerns

The Scottish Human Rights Commission has published research which shows that a considerable proportion of people who use social care support at home in Scotland have experienced either a reduction or complete withdrawal of support during the pandemic, with a detrimental effect on their human rights.

The Commission has called for the Scottish government and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities to jointly commit to the return of care and support at pre-pandemic levels, as a minimum. It also wants better data collection and for public authorities to use human rights to inform future care decisions.
