Have your say on Oliver McGowan draft code of practice

The Government has opened a consultation on the extent to which the draft Oliver McGowan code of practice on statutory learning disability and autism training provides CQC registered providers with the necessary guidance to meet the legislative requirement introduced by the section 181 of the Health and Care Act 2022.

It is the government’s expectation that all health and care staff will undertake one of the 2 tiers of the training package, whichever tier being most appropriate to their role.

The draft code of practice includes further guidance on assessing the right level of training for staff, mapped to the core capabilities frameworks. Training staff to the correct level is an issue that will be important for providers when they are planning their training programmes.
