NHS and Social Care Coronavirus Life Assurance Scheme 2020
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) would like to increase awareness of the Government's coronavirus life assurance scheme among bereaved families of social care staff who have died after contracting COVID-19 at work.
UKHCA understands that deaths amongst homecare workers are extremely low, but DHSC want to ensure that family members of anyone who sadly dies as a result of COVID-19 is able to make a claim.
The Government scheme pays a £60,000 lump sum if a staff member dies as a result of coronavirus and had recently been working in a frontline role where personal care is given to individuals who have contracted coronavirus.
The scheme is administered by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) and there are separate schemes for England and Wales.
