New strain of virus from South Africa leading to immediate travel restrictions and quarantine.
A new strain of the virus found in South Africa has meant that there will be immediate travel restrictions on travel to and from South Africa. Known cases of the new variant in the UK and their close contacts will be quarantied. Anyone who has been to South Africa in the last fortnight and their close contacts must quarantine immediately.
The new strain is being further investigated.
