Glove types - PPE guidance update

The main guidance for the use of PPE in homecare (available here) has been updated to include further detail on the types of glove that should be used.

Under question 6 on page 10 the guidance now specifies that nitrile, neoprene or latex gloves should be used. The guidance then says "Vinyl gloves should not be worn if you anticipate that there will be contact with bodily fluids or blood. They may be worn for routine cleaning, however if chemicals are being used as part of a decontamination schedule a COSHH assessment must be carried out and the correct PPE worn."

Providers should consider this guidance before placing orders for vinyl gloves.
