Further evidence on Lateral Flow devices

Public Health England has undertaken a rapid evaluation of whether lateral flow devices are effective in detecting the new COVID-19 variant. Their findings support the effectiveness of the tests. Further details.

They have also published an evidence summary on the use of lateral flow tests in care homes. This comes as the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has announced the use of lateral flow tests twice weekly for care home staff. In some parts of the country (for example Wales) lateral flow tests will be used for the homecare workforce.
