The Government has announced plans to establish an Adult Social Care Negotiating Body to deliver the first Fair Pay Agreement for care workers in England. Bringing together employer and trade union representatives, the body will negotiate pay, terms and conditions, and wider workforce issues. Backed by £500 million for 2028–29, the Government says the reforms will support recruitment, retention and career progression across adult social care. Negotiations are expected to begin in April 2027, with the first agreement due to take effect from April 2028.
