Share your views: Direct Payment Reform in Welsh Health & Social Care

The Welsh Government wants public feedback on proposed regulations for direct payments in health and social care. These proposals aim to improve clarity and effectiveness, and the government may revise them based on the responses received.

The consultation covers three areas: changes to allow local health boards to manage payments on behalf of ministers, new rules and guidance for healthcare-related direct payments, and updates to social care regulations, including letting a nominated third party manage payments.

Submit your comments by 8 October 2025.  

These proposals fall under the Health and Social Care (Wales) Act 2025, and we previously responded to a consultation on this legislation. You can read our earlier response in 2024 here
