A Memorable Christmas Concert

This year, we organised a special festive outing for our clients, designed to bring joy, music and connection at a time of year that can be difficult for many.

One of our clients had lost his wife last Christmas, and we knew the season ahead might feel especially heavy. Our Senior CareGiver, Sally, wanted to find something uplifting he could truly enjoy. Knowing his love of theatre and concerts, an idea quickly took shape.

Why not take him, and others who might enjoy it, to a Christmas concert?

We chose the annual Christmas Carol Concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, held at the Brighton Dome. A joyful celebration featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, guest singers, rousing carols and plenty of festive sparkle.

The response was immediate. Ten clients jumped at the chance to attend.

That’s when the real work began.

Making It Happen (No Small Task)

Planning an outing like this isn’t simple. Especially on a Sunday, in the run-up to Christmas.

Our Managing Director Vicky had the pleasure of coordinating every detail. Accessible seating, mobility needs, transport, carer support and careful rostering to ensure each client was supported throughout.

And somehow, it all worked like clockwork.

By the time the doors opened at 3.15pm for the 4pm performance, every client and CareGiver was present and ready. We marked the occasion with Kingsway Care yellow Santa hats, a few group photos and a lot of excited chatter as the anticipation built.

Music, Laughter and Festive Joy

The concert itself was everything we hoped for and more.

There were sing-along carols, Christmas jokes contributed by the audience and even the chance for someone to try their hand at conducting the orchestra. The standout moment for many was when a delightful young girl of around eight years old was chosen to conduct the orchestra and choir to Hallelujah. She brought the house down with her enthusiasm and confidence.

The real conductor’s cheerfully terrible Christmas cracker jokes and a hilarious musical reflection on 2025 added to the fun. It was joyful, warm and wonderfully festive.

A perfect way to kick off the Christmas season.

What Our Clients and Families Said

Since the concert, we’ve received some lovely feedback from clients and their families:

“Just thought I’d let you know that mum said what a wonderful time she had with you yesterday, so thank you.

“Thank you for organising and inviting us to the Brighton Dome for the Christmas concert. We thoroughly enjoyed the event and are sure it helped everyone get into the festive spirit. Thanks also to all the Kingsway staff for ensuring we were so well looked after.”

A Thank You

Thank you to our CareGivers, Amy, Peta, Sally, Bruce and Arthur, and our office team, Vicky, Laura, and Sue for making this special afternoon possible. And thank you to our clients and families for trusting us to create moments that matter.
