Change in regulations in Wales from 1 November
Care Inspectorate Wales have written to providers to advise that, following a consultation on removing some of the coronavirus requirements.
In their communication, Care Inspectorate Wales summarise the following changes will apply from 1 November 2022:
- There will be no exception from registration as a care home service for those providing accommodation together with nursing or care, for adults, where needed as a result of the spread of coronavirus.
- There will be no exception from registration as a domiciliary support service for those providing care and support, for adults, where needed as a result of the spread of coronavirus.
- Providers of care home services, wholly or mainly for adults, or domiciliary support services for adults, must obtain and make available at the service all information and documentation required in relation to staff (in Schedule 1 of the 2017 Regulations).
- Service providers will not be able to apply to vary their registration to exceed 15% of the total number of adults accommodated by the service in shared rooms.
- Service providers applying to register or to vary their existing registration, to use currently unoccupied premises – that were previously registered under any relevant legislation – for the provision of a care home, secure accommodation or residential family centre service, must ensure these meet the additional premises requirements set out in Part 13 of the 2017 Regulations.
