Work-based Immigration Inquiry

The Home Affairs Committee has launched an Inquiry into work-based immigration, focusing on:

• the government's approach to the Skilled Worker visa
• how decisions are made about which occupations should be eligible for work visas
• the link between skills policy and immigration policy 
• when and how work migration should form part of the response to labour shortages
• the effectiveness of cross-government working on work migration

The Inquiry is accepting written evidence until 27 October 2026
