Welsh Government publishes the National Care Service Programme for Wales: Working Together for Better Care and Support

The Welsh Government has published the National Care Service Programme for Wales: Working Together for Better Care and Support, which outlines the approach being taken to develop and strengthen social care arrangements across Wales. The document sets out a programme of work designed to support greater consistency, collaboration and integration across health and social care services.

The programme describes a number of priority areas, including the development of national frameworks and standards, improvements to commissioning arrangements, workforce planning, digital and data capabilities, and stronger partnership working between organisations involved in delivering care and support. It also outlines plans to support closer integration between health and social care services and to improve cooperation across national, regional and local levels.

For care providers, the programme highlights the role of local authorities, health boards, independent providers, third-sector organisations, unpaid carers and people who use services in shaping and delivering care. It emphasises collaborative working and engagement with stakeholders as part of the programme's implementation.

The programme also outlines a phased approach to delivery, with a focus on developing shared systems, reducing variation where appropriate, and supporting continuous improvement across the social care sector in Wales.
