Social Care Wales Workforce Survey Findings 2023
Social Care Wales have published their workforce survey, which was undertaken between March and May 2023.
80% of homecare workers reported that they felt valued by the people that they support but only 48% of careworkers felt valued by the general public. The survey also reveals dissatisfaction with rates of pay amongst 61% of careworkers.
Social Care Wales - Workforce Survey
Whilst the Welsh Government have committed to paying careworkers the Real Living Wage, we would urge the Welsh Government to consider funding the sector to a level that would allow for a wage offer that is competitive in today's labour market. Our Minimum Price for Homecare and previous Homecare Deficit report highlight the extent to which rates paid by public sector commissioners in Wales do not cover the reasonable costs of delivering care.
Separately to this, Social Care Wales have also undertaken some research on how different local authorities are undertaking workforce planning.
