Research roundup 23 October - use of restraint, equality and the pressure on unpaid carers
- The Equality and Human Rights Commission published a report on the impact of the pandemic, highlighting the impacts on older and disabled people and care workers.
- Carers UK have published a new report 'Caring behind closed doors' on the impact of coronavirus on unpaid carers in the UK. 81% of unpaid carers say they are providing more care since the start of the pandemic.
- IPPR and the Runnymede Trust published a report on ethnic inequalities in COVID-19 calling for action to be taken to mitigate differences in outcomes between ethnic groups.
- There is a new CQC report on the use of restraint, segregation and seclusion for people with learning disability or autism who may also have a mental health condition. The report calls for a reduction in restrictive practices and an increase in availability of community based support.
- The Minister for Equalities has also published a quarterly update on progress to address COVID-19 related health inequalities.
