The Care Quality Commission has published findings from five pilot assessments assessing how well local authorities are meeting their duties under Part 1 of the Care Act (2014).

CQC looked at nine of their quality statements to carry out the assessments.

The indicative ratings for Birmingham City Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Lincolnshire Council and Suffolk County Council were all good.

Nottingham City Council’s indicative rating was requires improvement.

CQC will start to issue first notifications of assessment and information returns to other local authorities in England from early December.  They can expect an approximately 9 to 11 week period between receiving notification and on-site interviews.

There is interim guidance for local authorities on assessment, with final guidance expected once approved by Government.
