The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has published new guidance to provide regulatory certainty on how health and social care organisations should keep people properly informed.

The aim is to support health and social care organisations to ensure they are being transparent with people about how their personal information is being used.

The UK data protection regulator's guidance covers what is transparency, how do we develop transparency information, how do we provide transparency and privacy information, and how do we assess if we are being transparent.  The guidance includes a glossary and a transparency checklist.

The guidance follows a consultation that took place earlier this year.
