Guidance on CQC's transitional monitoring activity

The Care Quality Commission is switching to a transitional monitoring approach to regulation. The regulator's guidance is here and monitoring questions to adult social care providers here.

In addition, we have received a link to CQC internal guidance on Transitional Monitoring Activity (TMA), issued in September, which was obtained by a lawyer, Jonathan Landau, via a freedom of information request.

This sets out the questions CQC may ask on TMA calls, and the sources of evidence inspectors could wish to look at to obtain supporting evidence. This may be useful for providers preparing for an inspection. However, be aware that the guidance may be updated and the information obtained via the freedom of information request could go out of date.

CQC internal guidance version 1.1, dated September 2020.

CQC are also emailing providers direct about webinars they are running to explain the approach.
