CQC update on transitional approach and Provider Collaboration Reviews
The CQC have issued a statement outlining further detail about the transitional approach to regulation that they will be rolling out for adult social care from 6 October 2020. This will mean taking a flexible approach appropriate to the ongoing pandemic. It will include monitoring risk based on the existing Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs). Inspection activity will be more targeted when there are concerns and the technology and local relationships will be used to improve contact with service users.
CQC have said in their statement that when monitoring risk, there will be no change in rating. Where the monitoring leads to an inspection, which may not cover all aspects of the five key questions and KLOEs, there may not be a change in rating for a service.
The CQC have also published their latest COVID-19 insight report. This includes some initial insight into their Provider Collaboration Review findings, which looked at how care providers have worked together during the pandemic. The full report and findings are due in October.
