Consultation on Carer’s Allowance
We have responded to the DWP's call for evidence on Carer's Allowance, highlighting the importance of supporting people who balance unpaid caring responsibilities with paid work. We emphasised the need for a more predictable and flexible system that better reflects fluctuating earnings and reduces the risk of overpayments.
Our response also supported measures that make it easier for carers to remain in employment, including clearer communication, better alignment with Universal Credit, and consideration of a tapered approach to earnings. We stressed that enabling carers to combine work and caring benefits individuals, employers and the wider care system.
